Anxiety and Uncertainty

Extraordinarily testing things can happen to us: redundancy, relationship breakdown, illness, bereavement and everything else that feels like a catastrophe when it happens. Even though we know these things could happen it doesn’t stop them being incredibly shocking and destabilising.

It’s natural to feel overwhelmed and wonder what on earth is coming next. The worst side effect is losing confidence that you’ll be able to cope in the world that has changed so much for you.

Each experience is stored as data recognisable by the most primitive survival instinct in the brain. So each time a similar experience happens. It sparks the same reaction despite the actual threat being out of sync with reality.
